Detailed example of my process of making 7VAR brass from 7.62 NATO
useing a .260 Rem die to pre-form the case before forming to 7VAR.
Steps:
  • Anneal Brass -- flame at approx 1.6 inches up from base
  • Form with 260 rem die
  • Form with 7 VAR die with out expander
  • Cut case to 1.65 inch +/- form with 7var die with t26 expander
  • Ream necks with 257 reamer trim to 1.596-1.6
  • Form with 7 VAR die with expander
  • Turn necks to .0125-.0135
  • Tumble clean
  • Anneal

The first deer taken with the Valkyrie and second animal taken with it goes to Dusty aka Ga swamper

He took this very fine 10pt buck Tonight with his 20" Vakyrie running the 140 game king with 8208 powder.  He said it was a 56 yard shot and it dropped in its tracks.

The damage is devastating and it is great to see the Valkyrie living up to the expectations I had when I designed it.

Great work Dusty and congratulations on the great buck.

7mm Valkyrie first kill

The 7mm Valkyrie AR is a wildcat developed to put big game killing power into a standard size AR 15 package. The Valkyrie reached an important milestone a couple days ago by recording its first large game kill, and proving the initial concept. This was a 400+ lb hog, taken with one shot, in the dark with NV, from on top of a ladder at 160 yards away. The load was a 140gr Berger VLD hunting bulle
t, over 35.3 grains of Benchmark, at 2740 fps, from a 21" SPR profile AR. This loads at mag length, 2.295", and fits in multiple different AR mags. Mr. pig took zero steps after receiving his prize, and there is no question in my mind that this cartridge has the stones to take anything in North America. Mission accomplished. 7mm Valkyrie has been tested and developed by a group of great folks who put in a lot of hours at the range and the loading bench, and now it's ready for prime time. It has a very comprehensive set of load data available already. I hope this post is of interest to the group. Please feel free to ask me anything.
